Question 4 runner 88 22re engine noise help!

Hey guys got my first project rig and I've hit a wall. My engine is ticking in idle and deceleration. Just looking for some opinions and tips before I tear the engine apart.
88 22re rebuilt less than 1000 miles.
Fuel injected, 4 cyl. 2.4L
Compression test on heads done and normal
Tappits readjusted - no change
Shorting cylinders didn't affect the noise.
Wrist pin issue suggested - the pins were visually inspected on rebuild not replaced. No appearant play. Any other tests for wrist pin?
Found mention of timing pin?
Here are the symptoms
Sounds like 2 different ticking/tapping sounds
One is fast and continuous similar to a tappit noise.
Second is louder especially in idle and deceleration. Also slows down with deceleration. Heard most at 1-2 rpm.
Smells like fuel outside the truck often
White exhaust smoke on cold start and with rev after idling for 3-5 minutes.

Any leads, tips, guidance and help would be very appreciated. I've attached 2 links short vids of the sound. One from inside the truck and the other outside closer to the engine. Thanks guys!

Hate to say it but sounds like head gasket is ng. The white smoke gives that away. Also sounds like piston issue / wrist pin. It may just be a bad lean knock from the coolent getting in. I would difinatly pull the head off and take a look.

So the only reason I'm resistant to thinking it's the head gasket is that they were all just done. And the white smoke is not there all the time just after it's been idling for awhile. I will definitely look into the wrist pin

I think it may be a timing chain rubbing making the noice, possibly a hairline crack from coolant line on cover, maybe leaking into motor giving the white smoke. My timing chain runbed through and blew my engine so idk maybe chrck that

We did that whole process of draining/flushing the system with stop leak and can't see any leaks through visual inspection. Also when there was nothing but water in the coolant system the white smoke didn't change. It was suggested that it's actually engine smoke due to the valves not being seated yet. Any thoughts on that? Can I test for valves being seated and how would I get them to seat? I am in the Portland area does anyone know of any yota specific mechanics out here? I know this is a difficult problem to diagnose without seeing this rig

By Chance do you remember if you torqued the head bolts to 65 Foot Pounds and not the miss printed 56

Are you losing coolant ??

White smoke is water vapor in the exhaust do you have that much condensation ??

Cooling system Pressure test ??

Stop leak I hope you disconnected the heater core ??

Yes heater core disconnected, not losing coolant, can't say I've down the cooling system pressure test. Will re check the head bolts. It's moist here but shouldn't be this amount of condensation. Thanks for the contact!
