could I just unplug my cold start injector and it will stop injecting? In the instance its leaking, it wouldn't do anything at all once unplugged, right?

cut off the cat and sell it to the scrap yard..... then straight pipe the truck.... cat will pay for half of the o2 sensor. unless of course you have to pass emissions....... then cancel that idea... but based on the condition of your 85 im guessing you dont have that

Start with that, its free if you core it out, and cheap if you just put pipe in its spot. But as stated, o2 sensor is a good idea. I got a bosh one, and mine was fine...

nope, planned on doing that soon.
Whoever mentioned cold start injector, I give you props. Went to unplug that son of a gun and discovered a pretty significant vacuum leak on a port the PO tried to plug with duct tape and a broken plastic cover
Hopefully that could be the problem?

Cool about the bosch o2 sensor cuz ive heard nothing but bad things about them. I probably need to replace mine as well. good luck. Remember when you replace the o2, reset the computer too. Otherwise it will still think the old one is on there. Sometimes you just gotta spoon feed the obd I system

Yes fix the vacuum leak and the broken port. I would keep it set to stock until all the problems are dealt with. Then you can play with it and adjust things.
Silly little trucks, but I still like mine damn!
