3vz or 3vze
hey guys i am picking up another 3slow for my runner and i was wondering what is the difference between a 3vz and a 3vze, i have a 88 runner and i want to get the same motor. i know of a jdm 3vz i can get and just want to make sure that it will work, I know i will have to swap intake and some other things around.

typically, the 'e' in toyota motor codes signifies electronic fuel injection. Since there was no carburated 3.0 V6, they are all technically '3VZE,' as apposed to 22R and 22RE, which are two different things.

22r and 22R-e are the same motor, just a different fuel delivery system.

I believe he was referencing the fuel delivery system.
btw, if you have an 88 truck, you will need an 88 motor, different mounts than the 89+. And as for those JDM motors, I will not even get into what a bad idea that is, but suffice to say DONT USE THEM!! The mileage is a general guess based on average mileage. Read the fine print, you will see what I mean.

now you got me all worried, i have been stewing over spending $1700 on a jdm motor trans and tcase for about 2 weeks now and just when i decided to go for it I hear this, my buddy who is a toyota mechanic said he would rather me get a jdm motor than these rebuilt motors out there due to the fact that most of these companies that rebuild these motors dont use oem toyota parts and they tend to fail due to the tolerences not being as close as they need to b e.

Who knows tho, you may get a good JDM engine. Sometimes they are taken care of in Japan, but with oil as expensive as it is over there, its just too expensive for some.

3VZE is a 3.0l V6 traditional mount truck/4Runner engine.
3VZFE is a 3,0L Transverse mount car engine found in 92-93 camrys and es300's.
3VZFE is DOHC, and a Hemi style engine, where the truck engine is not. It was also 185hp, where the truck engine was 145 (LAME!!)

The 3vzfe is a great motor. I had a camry wagon with that engine-wow. If you can make it work, drop the 3slow and go with that.
