I have seen the body's of the trucks cracking but never the mount at the frame from body lifts. In high school a friends ford ranger had the body lift punch thru the cab floor. He also completely flat landed off of a table top on a motocross track from about 8' in the air on a pro comp suspension lift. Of coarse that's going to happen, it's called abuse!

As mentioned above, I worked for Performance Accessories which is HUGE in body lifts. They also happen to own trailmaster suspension which actually is more what I was involved in. In my 4 years there we were included in many lawsuits. Now when I say that I mean, there was a car wreck and ANYONE that ever touched that vehicle was drug into the case. We NEVER ONCE had a body lift attribute to any wreck. I examined a fullsize chevy truck where an entire family was killed. The wreck sheared off just about the entire front pass corner of the truck. Control arms were completely ripped clean off the truck and the frame bent around like a pretzel. It was our body lift on the truck and the cab mounts were all 100% still in tact.

Do body lifts fail? Yes they do but I'd put money you weren't driving it to church on Sunday morning when they failed!!!

Previous to working there I had 8 years of experience in R&D with both RCD suspensions and Fabtech. At that time I would've said the same thing, body lifts suck!!! Then I worked in that industry and it clicked really fast that they have their place and honestly if I had what I'd consider a decent amount of money into a nice truck but wanted big tires I wouldn't do a suspension. You really want to cut off parts of your frame and put in spindles that aren't engineered to work with current ABS and traction control systems? Go ahead, I'm gonna pass... LOL


BTW, I'm not in that industry now so it's easy to look back and say WOW...

these are 33x12.5's on a 2 inch body lift.

Could do 35's if i had em.



Dont mind the super ghetto ugly front spring hangars, im in the process of getting them off!

But im really all for body lifts =-] i love mine
and i loved mine of the 83. granted it didnt need it whatsoever,

BJ spacers and AAL will let you run 33 1250 no prob, i runs 31s on it but thats just for mileage reasons, but i have 3-4" of room to spare. With a 1" body lift i would say u could run 35s with no pounding or cutting. My only prob with body lifts is if go much more than an inch u start having to remove wire clips and cutting things so you can SHIFT! I say from the looks of your truck go BJs and AAL and shocks gain some travel and smooth your ride (no body lift needed really)

they do nothing for wheeling ability and make you look like a big poser

I have 35s with only BJ spacer lift and cruiser coils.. a little nip and tuck here and there..

Do you have any more pics? Im thinking about running 35s on my pickup after I put on BJ's and some emu lift springs in the rear. Then maybe 1in body lift if needed

They are actually not near as bald as they look in the pics but for the record I paid 160$ total to have my old tires removed and the new ones installed.

I was thinking about getting a body lift so this wouldn't happen. But then I remembered, oh ya they don't do anything for clearance. Just get the sticker that says "cheese lift" and you'll notice the same performance.

Lol well ill let yall in on a little secret.

Shortly after i went to.a 3" body lift.


Made it much more capable.

Was not commenting either way. On a budget I guess BL would be ok, but suspension lift would be ideal.

Then again I did have some bolts fall out of the bracket that relocated my diff. She twisted and broke my cv last Thurs.

thought i might add this. body lifts make it a hell of alot easier to get to the transmission bolts up top. That was one of my reasons for going BL.

It also makes it easier on some vehicles to get the rear spark plugs.
