3000 -4000rpm idle problem
ok I have searched high and low and apparently I am the only 3vze owner in history to have this problem......
I have had 22re my entire off road carrier and now I am kicking myself in the ass for buying a 3vze .......
so here's the story I have a 1992 runner I have done a SAS on it it ran fine stock
after replacing leaking valve cover gaskets and an intake manifold gasket just because... I start the motor and it instantly runs away to 3000-4500 RPM
now every kids and there dog is telling me I have a major vacuum leak and after spending 4 hours tracing every line and wasting an 5 gallon tank of propane THERE IS NO VACCUM LEAK!!!!!
where do I go from here? would the AS valve being stuck open really change the rpm that much????? my next step it to yard the plenum back off and repeat the process...

Well, there pretty much has to be a major air leak past the throttle butterfly somewhere. The engine can't run at 4000 rpm on the air that leaks past a closed throttle. There's an idle bypass port on the intake somewhere, not quite sure how it works or how big it is. If that is leaking majorly, you won't find it with a propane test, because the air for the bypass also comes from the air intake tube (so that it is filtered by the air filter) and then passes around the butterfly.
(The truck dies when you pull off the air intake tube because the VAFM then detects no airflow and shuts off the fuel pump as a safety feature in the event of a crash. Jumper Fp to B+ in the diag connector if you want to keep it running without the intake connected.)

Is there vacuum at the valve cover (pull the pcv or breather off and see if there's vacuum at the valve cover) if the intake to head gasket was leaking at the bottom it would be a vacuum leak to the crankcase.
