3.0 momentary jerk so many of us have has anyone found a fix
Well back working on the 4runner again. I have had alot posts and good answers back about this problem that so many of us have. Just installed a new fuel pump, AFM, COR relay and throttle body&TPS and ECU still no fix. Did down size tires to 31's. I have changed so many parts I am running out of things to change. It runs so dam good But for the momentary jerk. One of these days its going to brake something in the drive line. Has anyone's 4runner just stopped running from this problem. So has anybody found a fix.

I had read some where on here a fellow was having a very similar problem, he ended up useing a (scope?) the read the signal generated from the distributor. The signial was very off the charts, he replaced the distributor with several aftermarket new/refurb units and it did not help the problem at all. He ended up buying a brand new distributor from toyota and it completly fixed his problem.
It seems the space between the signal pickup and magnetic vanes has to be just right or the signal gets wacky. A loose/ worn distributor bearing causes the distance to vary and as far as i know when a distributor is refurbished they do not replace the bearing in it unless it is very loose or making noise.
just my .02

Another one of these! I thought I was the only one...
So to make sure I understand, is this just a "jerk" where the RPMs drop but only happens every once a while (like once every 5-10 min at the most)? If that's the case, I've had the same thing for a while. For other non-related issues, I've replaced the distributor, wires, engine ground (and checked the rest), injectors, VAFM, etc. etc. and nothing. I just live with it.
If it bucks back and forth multiple times, it's something else. Usually a fuel delivery issue involving a malfunctioning sensor. I've never had that one on my rig though.

I had a very similar problem with my '92 Pickup. I did all of the FSM checks and did all of the standard tune up stuff (with the exception of replacing the fuel filter as my lines are ROUGH...). I did find my TPS was out of spec, so I replaced it only to have the problem show up less frequently (mostly during warm up or cold temps. [below 20 deg.]) What fixed my momentary jerking problem was replacing ALL of the vacuum hoses. I had quite a few of them that were lose on the fittings, and one that was cracked on the inside of a tight radius. Hasn't happened in a while now (knock on wood...)
