I'll be throwin' 31s under my 2wd soon. Just picked up a W58 5spd to go with some 4.10 (jump up from the 3.071 stock gearing) gears for it today.
I think at least one of the guys on here with 31s on their 2wd also has 4wd front fenders which is something I'll be doing as well.

he has 1.5" balljoint spacers, rear shackles, and a 2" body lift with 29.5" tires.

I was thinking if adding a 3" body lift, perhaps an AAL would allow 31's.. but I'm not too sure the front would clear. What do you guys think? yeah? maybe some SAW torsions? *would that actually lift the front end more?*
lol, yes that is my truck, from about 2 years ago. now it looks like this (see my sig for specs)

first of all, its your truck, do with it what ever you want. i used to get a bunch of crap from guys about lifting a 2wd but i just ignored them.
second, here is a link that some of us put together for 2wd parts https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...thread-183959/ (needs to be updated)
and lastly, if i were you i would jump on this deal on DR right now http://www.dezertrangers.com/vb/part...ies/121858.htm
you would also want a set of low profile bump stops for the upper arms and you would be set. then for the rear find a set of lift shackles and then a body lift if you want. im not sure if you could fit 31's with a 3'' or not but 30s would most likely fit with no rubbing. you could always try a 31 once all the other stuff is done. you will also want to flatten the pinch weld in the front fender well for just a little more clearance too.
if you are local, id also try and snag this http://www.dezertrangers.com/vb/part...ies/117634.htm

YOu mentioned getting in to secluded camping areas, adding a rear locker would greatly improve your ability to move around when not on the pavement

First thing you need to do is get it back to stock height and see where you're at.

I realize you need to be able to do more stuff but rushing into it and scrambling to get bigger tires to fit is going to screw you in the end, trust me.
Take your time and spend your money right.

Go out, remove the aftermarket lowering crap, get the front torsions back to normal height and post some pics.
We could also use some pics of how it is right now.

Also, what is this about your account not letting you post?
We'd prefer not to have multiple people posting from the same account...

my own account is JoeC and its acting like its never been authenticated or something.

I greatly appreciate the last few comments, i do need to go and remove the blocks and deal with the torsions. here's an old picture of my truck. i had to pull the fenders a little bit front/rear to prevent rubbing. sorry for the cell phone pic!

Hey Robert. I know you had balljoint spacers, but what else do you think I should do to acheive the 31's? aal, +2" shackles, 3" body lift?

btw. found the tires i'm going to get. almost cheaper than the tires on my truck now!

Tread Wright 31/10.50R15 GUARD DOG M/T. 89 bucks a peice!

I was thinking for "ease" of things.. how level would a SOA in the rear with downey torsions and the aftermarket UCA be?

I found some spring perches on JCwhitney for like 20 bucks, and they are pretty easy to weld on for me and my bro. anyone else done this? Curious what other obstacles I would run into.

Check how much those Tread Wrights weigh. A friend of mine, KiyoBrown, on here has some guard dogs on his 4runner and even with gearing, lce headers, exhaust, and a supra MAF, they are tough to turn.

I know they weigh something like 40lbs a peice, and I don't plan on breaking any speed records. I'll keep reading on it.

just ordered some parts from 4crawler.. =X

2" body lift (3 seemed a bit much eh!?) + after reading LOTS of threads on dezertrangers and seeing that some people fit 31" tires without any body lift, i think a 2" will be fine.

2" shifter extension. meh, cheap.. why not.

+2" rear shackles.

If anyone can help me find what Add a leaf I should buy.. I will do that tomorrow and be done ordering parts and just need tires!!

i wouldn't mix the bj spacers with the new upper arms and cranked torsions. you will probably never get it to align right and you will probably me maxing out the upper ball joint angle. if you dont plan on jumping the truck and doing any hard offroading, then i would do a 2 or 3 inch body lift and see if they 31s will fit, they probably will.

with a SOA swap the rear is going to come up alot. its going to be the width of the axle+the hight of the spring perch you weld on. i would stick with the spring under setup and do a set of lift shackles and then IF NEEDED an aal but thats going to make a stiffer ride.
remember too you are also going to want to replace your shocks and i would also do as many bushings as you can while its all apart.

normal BFG ATs are 42lbs for 31's so you should be good if you regear.

i would also recommend the radiator and front bumper brackets. other wise your fan will hit the shroud at the bottom and your front bumper is going to look real fugly being that low.

I know that these were a bit bigger, but the Guard Dog M/T that Kiyo ordered showed 59lbs each on the shipping label.
