At 2k RPM it sounds like its gonna blow up.

lol, 22re or not, red-lining and bouncing off the factory set rev limiter can hurt ANY engine...
anything over 4k on a stock 22re is useless anyway...
even with my head and cam combo, my 22re still only really pulls hard up to 4500 RPMs, and then it just falls on it's face...

I wish I had the tech to do a video like you have but no luck with that here, just so you could hear how good it sounds the 268 rocks with 5.29's and 35's

well, stock 22re specs are 116 HP @ 4800 RPM TORQUE 140 @ 2900 RPM, so shifting at 3k you're just nipping your power band.
i prefer to shift at 3500, and on flat roads i usually do. but it's not too flat in atlanta, and with the 33s i need to go that far so that when i get into the higher gear, i'm somewhat above 2500rpm. below 2400, the truck doesn't accelerate very well, and i have to down shift again.
it's kinda like a dump truck. but, that's why i did the SR5 gauge swap, so i could keep an eye on it.
i can't wait to regear. someday...
