22rte to a 22re
Hi there, this is my first thread.
So here's my dilemma, I own a 1986 Toyota Pickup 4WD it came with a 22rte (Turbo Version), but when I bought it had some problems here and there.
The first thing I found out was that the turbo didn't work, IDK what it had but it wasn't spinning anymore, and also it was missing some hoses, so if I wanted to use the turbo I would have to but a lot of parts.
So I removed the turbo, and I rebuilt the motor making it a 22re.
The only problem is that I'm still using the turbo injectors and ECU, and one of these injectors is leaking fuel, I searched in various junkyards and I haven't been able to find the injector. I also tried using a normal 22re injector from the same year but it won't even send fuel in low RPMs.
So I lost all hope in finding this injector, but after searching a lot I found out that there's a way of using high impedance injectors by removing the resistor box, I haven't tried it out, I'm a bit scared of burning the ECU.
So that's what I'm actually doing, I'm trying to find alternatives.
Has anyone already tried this?
Would it work?
Do I have to change more parts in order make this work?
Please help, it's the only thing that's stopping me from driving my truck.

What you've done is not going to work...
the 22ret is a LOW compression engine for the boost... different injectors, ECU, heads...
the turbo engine is AWESOME you just need to change a few things and they scream.
your rig is going to be a dog without the turbo!!!

Sorry... your truck is beautiful, and welcome to the forum.
Now. I am very familiar with the turbo rigs as I have 2 and have had one of them for about 10 years and done a LOT of work on it.
The red 4runner is modified with a ct26 @ #10 boost, the white 4runner is bone stock except the oil catch can I added.
Both trucks will BARELY pull themselves without the turbo working... even less power than a standard gutless 22re, and I've had a highly modified 22re ( cam, head, header, electric fan, supra AFM...)
And it was still a dog compared to a nice running stock 22ret. The modified 22ret is killer.

I know the turbo engine is way better, but I didn't have the money at the time, and a mechanic told me that I was going to spend a lot more money in trying turbo it again, so he recommended making it a normal 22re.
So that's what he did, and I just got it yesterday, it feels really strong because the pistons are a bit wider, the only problem I'm having is that it's leaking fuel from one the injectors and IDK where to buy them.
Do you know a website where I can buy the set of 4 injectors for this truck?

LCE
22RE PERFORMANCE
YOTA1
did he put a 22re head on?
you can have your old injectors rebuilt also...
are they 22re injectors or the 22rte injectors?

I already asked 22re performance before if they had the injectors i needed and they told me they don't have them anymore.
I'll ask Yota1 and LCE if they have them in stock.

The only thing that kinda stops me a bit, is that I'm from Mexico XD.

I un-turbo'd my 4Runner for awhile. I swapped in an entire 22RE, as I wanted the higher compression, but I used the RTE injectors, ECU, and AFM, and it ran just fine.
Ask on the "22RTE Turbo Toys" Facebook group if anyone has a good used one.
OE part number is 23209-35020 (looked up using my 4runner VIN on www.partsouq.com. You may want to double-check using your VIN, but it should be the same).
Googled that part number came up with a bunch of information, including: https://www.fiveomotorsport.com/1039...54212181-each/
