22re swapping for 22r please help!!
Hello I'm just confused on a few different things anything you guys could enlighten me on would be a HUGE help! So I got a 93 with the 22re in it the blocks cracked..I have an excellent running 1996 22r but tranny is out and body shot so I was gonna try and put the 96 in the 93.. I realize this is a forum for up to 95s and all the info I've seen doesn't have anything on 96s. Is this possible and if so what should I watch out for? They both have 5 speed manual trannies..I planned on bringing the wiring harness and brain with the 22r and the fuel pump and tank hose? If its got one? Literally any help you could give would be greatly appreciated!

Where are you located?
If you are in the United States, there is no such thing as a 1996 22R.
The last of the carbureted 22R engines were only found in 2WD trucks to 1990 or 1991.
Toyota had the 22R-E engine up to the first half of the 1995 model year, then switched to the 2RZ-FE, 3RZ-FE or the 5VZ-FE engine for trucks and 4Runners starting in the second half of the 1995 model year.

Your 1996 engine is the 2RZ-FE. It is a great engine!
I am not sure what is all involved in swapping the 2RZ-FE into your 1993 truck, but it will need the Engine Computer, all engine wiring, and sensors that came with the 2RZ-FE to work. You will have to splice the 2RZ-FE engine harness to your existing body harnesses. I am not sure if your existing transmission will work or not.
The easiest thing to do would be to find another 22R or 22R-E engine.
I know a 22R-E to a 2RZ-FE swap has been done before, but I don't have time at the moment to search ( I am at work).
