well, it is done. $1095 for the long block, $25 for the steel T-chain guide, $350 for core deposit, $165 for shipping = $1645 in the hole for a badass, fresh motor in my truck within a week or two. John at OER was very easy to talk with and was able to answer what questions I had. Going to look at upgrading my exhaust too (or at least start saving money for a high flow from the manifold back - ie: larger diam. pipe, HF cat, HF muffler) Updates to come soon...

ugh...i just got a curveball today...$400 for a running engine @ a yard in new hampshire about an hour and a half from me...i think right now i'm gonna go the junkyard route (keep in mind, i've been working in junk yards for 5 years.) i'm just gonna pop in the donor and rebuild the engine i have in my truck now for future installation...probably with some other mods like a header, big valves/cam, slugs, high flow oil/water...but for now, the name of the game is getting to work and not having too much downtime...my boss is a mid-seventies junk yard dog...he'll let me use the building and lifts and fork trucks and loaders to put my motor in, but if i miss a day of work to do it, he'll have an aneurism...not sure if i spelled that correctly. anyway...i'll have superstock dreams for the future, but i can't beat $400 for now.

Yeah, wasn't easy giving John the card numbers, but I'm fortunate enough to be working full time right now, plus I've got some commission work piling up, so hopefully I'll be able to pay this all down sooner than not. Eek.

so...how much for your unused head w/268 cam? just toying with the idea of a mild super stock with my junkyard motor...i'm taking the head off to put a new gasket on anyway, if i can get a performance head, all the better, right?

I'll ship it for about $400 your cost. Engnbldr would take a chunk for a restocking fee (don't get me wrong, not bitter with them for it at all), and it's brand new never been used ever by anyone forever, so at least it'll be decent. I would love to keep it for my motor, but I can't justify buying a new long block engine, then pulling it apart, throwing another nice new head on (but with a hotter cam) and then having an extra stock head just sitting around.
