22re...poor/no acceleraton
Hey guys, heres my first post...I'm in need of some good Toyota tech...I posted this on Pirate but I didn't get much input.
can't get over 45mph ..doesn't spudder or cut out..just NO power...idles great..
stock 86 4runner 22re..bought it as a basket case(head pulled ,needed timing chain)
replaced timing chain and head gasket with engnblder kit and got it running
after noticing the problem I've checked:
timing..5 degrees btdc w/terminal jumped
timing/centrifical advance ..25 degrees btdc
compression ..160/160/160/155
vacuum leaks
intake tube cracks/leaks
no codes
new plugs/wires/cap/rotor
checked afm per Rodger Browns instructions
Up next is test tps and check fuel pressure..after that I don't have a clue.
One thing that is suspect to me is the wiring..all efi wiring was disconnected and in pretty bad shape but I figure if it didn't give me a code then it was ok.
open for suggestions

My brother just had the same problem with his rig, and turned out one of his spark plugs wasn't threaded in right by the last knuckle head that worked on it. I would check and make sure that you are getting spark to all 4 cylinders

I just pulled the fuel filter and noticed that the previous owner installed it backwards..not sure if that would do anything though..just blowing through it,it feels the same either direction.

changed fuel filter, previous owner installed backwards..
checked TPS ......That was the problem..
after I changed the TPS the timing changed so it ran horrible. jumped t and e1 ...the timing was way retarded (I had set it to 5 btdc before) ..set it again and it runs great...
Thanks to 4crawleR for the info on his site www.4crawler.com

i had my injectors cleaned, swapped afms, removed the cat, new fuel filter, inspected every wire in the wiring harness from end to end, 2 sets of new plugs, new cone air filter, completely flushed the cooling system new rad. i think that's about it related to this problem
i'm gonna get me a new tps and see if that helps
Good luck

Don't buy a new one, just check the one you have..it's not that hard.

i have tested that already it as well seams good
with the amount of electrical problems i have had on this i bet it's a sensor, but i haven't forgotten about the egr. and i found out that my buddy's old supra parts car has the same TPS so i'm going to try that one first
thank you for the ideas tho
