22RE hard to start, then has SUPER high idle
Hey guys,
There has been much discussion on the topic, I know, but I just rebuilt my 22RE and have everything hooked up, it's running no codes, but it takes FOREVER to turn over, if at all. If it does, too, it idles up SUPER high.
I'm going to try to jump the FP anfd B+ connectors on the diag box to see if it cranks, but it has a new fuel pump and fuel filter to go along with the new motor. Anyone know what this could be?
Thanks

Yeah, the cold start checks out fine too. I really have no idea what to do. I've run through everything and can't seem to track down the problem. Same thing last night- "crank, crank crank.....SUPER FAST!" then it shuts off on its own.

Filter is on correctly, and there is fuel pressure. Good spark, the distributor and rotor are new, still the same thing. I went through and check the EGR again, both fine and still no codes, still not sure what the problem is.

No vacuum leaks. I have run through them countless times. I installed them per the Haynes, the FSM, and the routing pattern on the bottom of the hood; nothing. Still starts up, putts and putts, then shuts off. I'm about the shoot the f$&%ing thing.

Ok guys, here's the update:
Just to make sure the AFM was working correctly, I put on one from my friend's 4Runner,which has no problem, and the truck did the same thing. I'm really at a loss now. I ran through all electrics, vacuum lines, and fuel lines. I jumped the Fp to B+ and the fuel pump is at full blast, still nothing.
I have absolutely NO idea what this could be. Could it be a bad knock sensor? Oh, and the TPS is right within spec.

Hey guys,
Another update: I fixed the high idle problem, now the damn thing won't start. I can get it to turn over, then it immediately dies. Is it the fuel pressure regulator? Anyone?
