22R injectors not firing or pulsing
I am trying to get an 87 4 Runner to run so I can buy it. I told the guy that owns it if I hear it run, I will take it. I am getting fuel in the rail, but the injectors are not spraying. I don't have an owners manual or service manual for the vehicle but I am thinking its prob. something simple like a relay or fuse, but I don't know which ones to check. Also, what is the sensor or switch where the hard line comes up off the fuel rail and runs into the intake?

Does your ECU throw codes? that'd be the place to start.
Injectors pulse by being grounded, that may be a place to start. They should have 12v all the time.

Sounds like the pickup in the distributor is no good. If you pull the distributor and with the key turned on turn it by hand you should hear the injectors pulse.

DCG9381 - The ECU is not throwing any codes, but its not running yet either. It sat for at least a few years with no battery so I am guessing computer is reset if there were any codes when parked.
Flash319 - What pickup are you referring to? I know that the distributor is turning off of the cam because when I pull the cap the rotor button is spinning, and it is timed correctly.

There is a magnetic pickup coil under the rotor in the distributor. It gives a pulse to the ECU for injector firing. If there is no pulse from the distributor the injectors will not fire.

Truck say for years with fuel in it? Who knows what kind of shape the injectors are in.
How do you know you have fuel pressure?
HAve you put a test light on one of the injectors? Again - they should pulse to ground.
