No...just saw it advertised and wasn't sure if anyone has boughten and engine from them. I was thinking of buying a new engine>rebuilding mine. No guarantee mine work is good. I guess there is always a chance of getting screwed over.

you just want that fluor-green block, don't you? I know your game.
well, you've got money invested in your block so finish it. if it don't work then think about a new one. to get that high hp, you'll probably have to get away from the stock efi and use either an aftermarket fuel management system or go dual side-drafts... another few pretty pennies.

I could see "up to 203hp" on a 22RE on pump gas. My last truck was running just over 10.5:1 compression on forged alum pistons on 89 octane with no problems (not sure on hp, but I embarassed several cars that didn't expect it). I'd like to see proof of their numbers, but remember that what makes the 22RE so reliable was that it was over-engineered and tuned far below its capabilities.

203HP would mean 1.4HP/cu-in. That's really hard to achieve on auto gas even for engines with 4valves/cyl, dual cams, and high compression. 1.2HP/cu-in is more reasonable but still pretty exceptional.

dude 203hp from a naturally aspirated pump gas running 22r is not going to happen. period. i don't know about everyone else, but i am just getting tired of all these people talking about 300hp 3vze motors and 200hp 22r motors. and i have never ever seen any kind of dyno chart with these claims. anybody else feeling that?

Got my engine from these guys. It got here and they unloaded it in my driveway so i didn't have to be home. It ran great right off the pallet.

silver top 160 hp 1.65
black top 170 hp 1.75
yes i know the second two are 5 valve heads. But I have also seen the regular 4 age make 1.4 to 1.5 without to much hassle and 1.2 is easy.
So your correct statement would be that the 22re is hard to achieve. It is not a good design for high horsepower.

(I owned an 87 with the 1.6L in it. Traded it for the 91 2.2L)

Although I misquoted black top numbers its 165 not 170 (there were a few that the factory claimed 170 on but most were 165). Those 20v are n/a and never officially came from the factory boosted, though rumors persist that some did.
If you had an 87 that would have been a 7 rib motor and could have handled over 200 hp. Though 200+ hp on these motors are barely street able due to the high rpm nature required to get those numbers.
