1st gen driver seat updrade
Hi
need some advice for the following 4Runner:
1987, DLX, 22RE. AT, AC, Altimeter, Tilt, etc....2Door
Q: whats a option to upgrade Driver seat...worn, and very uncomfortable.
Replace entire seat,? but need to ensure replacement rides the chassis rail properly, along with sliding forward bent for rear access.
Reupholster exiting seat with some kinda foam or kit?
any aftermarket options known?
appreciate expertise, thanks

Try looking at 1987 Honda Prelude seats- Recaro type. Very firm and gives one a sporty posture, not hunched like Toyota. I was considering that for my 1986 but figured it would be a lot of work. However, if you want a swap, I think it;s a good way to go. Also a two-door so should work well on a 2-door 4Runner.

Here's a thread with a few suggestions: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f115...-seats-306666/
You can build your own adapter if you find the right seats. Just remove the bottom half of the slider that bolts to the floor, put a plate on top of that, and bolt the new seat's sliders to the plate. The Mazda MPV seats in my truck have been going strong for fifteen years or so. I've never liked Toyota seats much.
