1st gen 4runner owners. Does this happen to you also?
About twice a month I have someone that I don't know follow me home and ask if I want to sell my runner. I've even had guys, and girls, walk away from the truck that they are putting gas into and ask if I want to sell my rig. One guy even followed me home from the gas station after I said no and pulled out a handfull of cash (1000$, yeah whatever) and tried to convince me to sell it.
Are the 1st gen runners in that much of a demand??? I paid 1500$ for mine and the seller was really happy to get his asking price. I knew what I wanted and paid for it.

Well, I don't get offers for a grand, I have gotten multiple people ask what year it is, then don't believe me when I tell them. I stopped by the dealership yesterday for a part, and two salesmen came out and I had to show them around it.
And to think. You almost bought a ford!

Its happened to me a few times. I've had people ask me what it is, or where I got my accessories like tube doors, bikini top, bumpers and sliders.
I had someone offer me $2,000 for it last summer - until I told him it had a 3.0 not a 22RE

Happens to me all the time...
When i had my 86 up on craigslist one of the pictures showed a little glimpse of the rear end of my 85, i got several calls and emails from people wondering about the other 4runner in the background.

No one has ever followed me home but I often get people at gas stations and at the job sites asking me how much to sell the 4Runner. I reply with something along the lines of "it's not for sale but if you make a good offer, I might consider, and it has a 4" lift kit too".
I get offers of 2000 for the truck and I tell them that it cost more than that for the lift, rims and tires... and you want the rest of the truck too?

I've had a few try to buy one of mine at gas stations and parking lots. Not too long ago, I came out of the grocery store and two grandma's were standing beside my 4runner checking out the back. I had the sides off the Killer Toy Top. As I walked up, they said is this your truck? We really like it. Did you put this interior in the back? They thought I modified a pickup, I had to explain it was a 1st gen 4runner. I thought it was funny two women that old were interested and liked my 4runner. Then another day, at the same store, I had driven my other 4runner that usually has the hard top on and a guy was standing beside it looking at the back sliding windows. He was carried away with the fact it had sliding windows at the back for some reason. Then when I pointed out the top came off, he was like oh wild, I got to get one of those.

I get a lot of questions about the rig, mostly, what is it? When the top is off and I am sporting the Bikini top, I get a lot of talkers. I have found several notes under the wiper offering to buy it. That makes me nervous that someone is looking at my rig when I'm not around, makes me glad I have all of the security on when I leave it.
