1st gen 4Runner bed panels
Has anyone replaced the plastic inner bed panels with something more durable, like sheet-metal or aluminum?
Also has anyone made the sides into storage compartments?
I tried searching and can't find anyone that has done this or have pics of someone that has attempted this?

I haven't found anything on it, and have looked. Be on the lookout though, because i'm going to be doing some out of diamond plate steel, with locking compartments (in the same spot as the factory ones). Probably holes for 6x9's and dynamated as well. The factory panels are crap and the fact that the only thing between the outer body panel and the interior is a flemsy plastic/fiberboard piece, sucks (especially when your fenders rust through and leave your interior exposed). I'm suprised a company hasn't come out with something, it would be as easy as using the old panels for a pattern and cutting. Be on the lookout for a full writeup.

I have done/sold so many 1/4rs http://www.toyotafiberglass.com because people shoot that expanding foam into there 1/4r's .. it's NOT a good solution as it holds water ..
but PLEASE .. keep doing it .. Business is amost to the max .
+ I'm also working ons some interior panels .. so stay tuned.

way to go slacker. I think people will buy them cause 20+ yr. old vehicles have brittle plastic inside.
Hi Jack over.
I read that entire thread and he had some good pics. Don't know where he got the inside panels, tho. Would like to know.

I am actually in the process of fabricating some right now, I see this post is a bit dated but I will post up some pictures once I am finished in a couple of days. It is looking good so far though!
