and its mig btw. we were using flux core wire, the stuff that doesnt require shielding gas. i dont recommend it, it leaves a lot of slag.

I couldn't post for the first two days after I registered, but I had to come back and say what a sweet job you guys did! You say it's mostly aesthetic, but I'm curious to see what it'll do!!!
Couldn't help but notice the High Country 4x4 Center Decal...that's in Boone, right??
Do you work there?

Thanks man! The stinger tube is the aesthetic part only because it is made out of inferior tube that I had laying around. The plate part of the bumper will destroy whatever it touches. The beast is fully boxed and tough as crap!
HC 4x4 is indeed in Boone. I don't work there but I've been spending a good bit of time and money there lately! hmmm, maybe I'll apply over the summer

Nice work! I have been looking for ideas and this looks like a great starting point for my build.
It does look like you might be blocking some of your headlight beam with the stinger.. Is it making much of a difference?
Although you probably don't have to be worried about spotting deer on the road with a bumper like that

92 toy- i was actually planning on a rear tire carrier/stinger (yep a rear stinger) but i messed up my front bumper yanking people out of the snow. ill post some pics of what it will look like.
wes- thanks! i originally thought i would be blocking them but i have noticed no difference at all with regular lights or the high beams. weird but its true! i have high hopes for when i tag a deer, tree, rock, etc :p

here ya go. this is something my brother made that im looking to redesign for a toyota.
this is the primary part of it. picture the side supports for the stinger attaching to upright tubing going to a roof rack frame that will attach to rock sliders in the front via more tubing coming from the roof.
its a bronco, dont shoot me! he drives an 01 taco and an 06 4runner for his and his wive's DD.

Sweet, very sweet! I am hoping to fab something like that this spring. I really like your brothers rear bumper. Thats the way to think outside the box.
Boone, huh? I used to boulder at howards knob back in the early 90's before they closed it.
Boone is a really neat little town. Probably not so little now, but it was 20 years ago.

so if I'm seeing that right, it hinges down so the tire is almost at ground level.
nice job.
i like the bumper....simple design.....looking to do (er...i mean loooking for you to do) more of a swing-out tire carrier though.

thanks! it really is quite handy!
lol yeah Boone has exploded with asu's championships. 15k students and 15k residents about. howards knob is up near the old fire tower right?
actually you're kinda describing what I have in mind. I'll keep the drop down stinger but my tire will be offset to the left and it along with a gas can will be on an arm that swings left once the stinger is dropped.
I drive on some skinny trails so being able to slide my butt up the hill while backing will be nice!
