1997 Hilux RN85 Climate Control Cable Removal
Hi,
Below is the same climate control that I have in my 1997 Hi-lux and similar to what was in many of the Toyota Pickups from 86-95 Was wondering how to remove the cables from the climate control on a 1997 RN85 as shown in the photo below. The broken cable I need to remove is held in the control firm, even when pressing the plastic tangs surrounding it. Any advice would be appreciated, especially if there is a technique..

Its hard to say without seeing what it looks like with the cables in place. Id recommend trying it with some snap ring pliers with very small tips

It looks to me like the clips are in the middle, everthing else should slide if you get them out of the way. Id recommend snap ring pliers and some sort of lubricant

at the end of the day, even if the plastic did break, you can rig something up to fix it. Its 20 yr old plastic, so who knows?

Success! They actually come out fairly easy if you're able to get a decent grip on the cables - I couldn't initially because I had limited access. Just use a good set of cir clip pliers to push on both tabs and pull the cables out backwards. No risk of breaking any plastic at all. Thanks Swampedout, you're a legend!
