Question 1995 4runner Gear Drive Tcase Swap

Hello all. Quick question regarding a T-Case Swap. I have a 1995 4Runner 3.0 5 Speed manual. I ordered a 4.7 Gear Drive top shift TCase from Trail-Gear that was prepped for twin sticks. Received the case in good working order, temporarily installed the shifters before installing and the case shifted fine into all ranges without issues. I then installed the case and could not get the right lever to shift at all (2wd/4wd?) Pulled it back out and what I believe is the issue is that the shift fork is too long and hitting the back of the transmission. Any one experienced this? I decided to file the fork down flush with the 3.0 adapter and have not had a chance to reinstall the case (damn cross member!) Anyone else ran into this problem before? Pictures are attached.

Yes. I just read about some other member here having the same problem. It's apparently not mentioned in the install instructions for some stupid reason(or lack thereof).

Yeah I remember reading the same thread. Can't find it now though. I think he mentioned once he moved the shifter it was stuck. He had to grind something to make it function correctly that wasen't listed in the instructions from Trail Gear and I beleive Marlin Crawler mentioned it had been overlooked when his previous employee wrote the directions. Not sure if this is the cause but look at this post. It could be the same issue. Post #561 https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...3/index29.html

You have to grind the shift fork flush with the adapter plate when the fork is in its forward most position. Do not completely grind the hook off as it keeps it from traveling too far into the Tcase

Okay, took a 4" zirconia flap disc to the protrusion. Hand file just wasn't cutting it. It is now flush with the adapter. Waiting on my "special" cross member from BUDBUILT. My front range off road cross member does not fit easily between the frame rails at the location of the gear drive t case. I would have to trim the FROR member and then reroute some existing miscellaneous lines that run along the frame rails. What a PITA. lol
