1990 4 Runner 3vz-e Squeaking
I have had my 4 Runner for over 12 years now, its in great condition but starting to have a squeaking issue. It has over 230,000 miles with the V-6 3vz-e engine and manual transmission. A few days ago I noticed when I put it in 1st and start driving I hear a squeaking sound. Also I could feel the vibrations of the squeaking sound in the gas peddle. If I take my foot off the gas and put the shifter in neutral the sound goes away. I assumed it was the belts so I used belt conditioner and no change. I then loosened and tightened the tension on all of the belts and still no change so I replaced them and nothing. It doesn't matter if the AC is on or not either. However when I move the idle on the engine with my hand and get the RPMs to go up you can hear the squeaking sound then; so its not only from being in gear. Could it be a bad bearing on the fan pulley? Another thing that I noticed when revving up the RPMS, right when I let go of the throttle cable as the RPMs go down you can hear a suddle growl noise. I have never heard this before either. After checking all of my hoses I have no tears so its not a sucking issue. Would the two incidents be related? Also on a side note the Timing Belt and H20 pump were changed at 180,000 so I don't think it would be the Timing Belt going bad but would the Timing Belt need belt conditioner too?
