1988 4x4 pickup prepurchase advice help

I am looking into purchasing a 88 Toyota, it’s a 4cyl 5 speed manual 4x4 has 250,000 miles. What would be a fair purchase price. It is fair condition inside and out cosmetically. They are first owners I asked a couple of questions in regards to maintenance. Was told just regular maintenance over the years. I have been searching the web and I know the timing chain should have gotten replaced once by now if not twice. What should I look for? Thanks I’m advance.

Since you don`t say where the truck lives .

Nor the condition of tires .

i have bought Toyota 4x4`s with less then half that mileage for $300.00 to $500.00

Granted they took another $1000.00 in parts just to catch up the neglected areas

Brakes Suspension Parts Rubber Hoses

All the gear Box fluids

You don`t say what your planned use is

Truck is located in California. Tires are in okay shape I could run them for a bit more. My main purpose is just to have on the side to haul my dirtbike when I go riding and what not nothing to crazy. If i do buy it what would be recommended to do on truck
