1988 3VZE Wire Harness

1988 3VZE Wire Harness
Hi just wondering if someone could help me out with a wiring harness problem.
Basically my '88 4runner with the 3.0 3vze motor had a bad wire harness, injector lines melted... not sure how unless the previous owner ran it hot. But the injector wires were melted and touching eachother... still ran but not well ha ha.
So I went to the junk yard and took a wire harness from a '90 3vze auto. Most of the plugs were the same but I did splice in one here and there. Got it all buttoned up and I didn't have spark. Tried many different things because I didn't want to think it was the harness. Then I found a '88 pickup and pulled that harness to swap into the 4runner(again). Spark returned and motor fired right up.
So... either there is something different about the '90 3vze auto wire harness (ecu plugs are the same) or it was bad to begin with. Now the 4runner is good to go but I'm still down a wire harness for newly acuired pickup.
My question is where would I be able to find a wire harness? I've been watching the junk yards and 1988 trucks are hard to come by, much less a 5spd. Any ideas where I could find one? Does auto/manual make a difference? What about the year difference? Any ideas on how I could troubleshoot this extra harness to get it to work? The whole problem was no spark. I had power to the ignitor/coil assembly. Seemed like a ground issue to me, but found no loose wires/bad connections.
Thanks
Jordan
