1988 3vze 4x4 heating woes and questions.

So I purchased a 1988 4x4 3vze extra cab sr5 pickup a few years ago with 300k+ miles on it. I've really enjoyed learning to work on it and love to drive it as my daily driver. Recently I did a timing belt change/ idle pulley, tensioner along with a water pump and thermostat. I'm now having heating problems while at idle. So I have jacked up the front end and tried to bleed the system the best I can. I am hearing gurgling at highway speeds/rpms but at highway speeds the heat is very high. While I know air in the line can cause this I'm worried that my heater core lines are backwards. What I think should be the outlets from the heater core (the passenger side connection) heats up much faster than the drivers side one. With or without the heater mixture valve open or closed, I've used a infrared thermometer and the passenger side one heats up faster. Does that sound right? Eventually with the valve open both are even in temp but it worries me that the outlet heats up faster. Also at running temp the upper radiator hose is only around 120 degrees. Pictures will be provided.
