1987 front turn signals

Hi
1987 4Runner DLX, 22RE, AT, PB, tilt, altimeter, AC..........
just replaced yellow turn signal lens under front chrome bumper, fine
Are the upper, front, corner , yellow lens supposed to flash with signal, mine don't?
wrong bulb? no bulb?
all these years never noticed the amber corner fronts blinking, maybe they not supposed to?
so both front yellow corner and smaller rectangular yellow lens supposed to flash simultaneously when using blinkers?
wonder why people flip me off when I eventually turn at a light...maybe both corner and bumper indicators supposed to work?
corner bulb size?
thanks
g

My 88 4R doesn't have bulbs/bulb connector in the amber corner fronts, but it has amber lights in the front fenders (see pic). They flash simultaneously with the amber ones in the bumper.

The front corner lights are just marker lights and are not part of the turn signals. The U.S. (and maybe all of North America?) don't have the fender turn signals like SomedayJ has.

I think it's a local regulation, you can see other 4R with the same fender turn signals:

Edit: The hole in the fender was made before the paint, it looks like they were installed by Toyota in Japan.

The amber lens in rear and under front bumper were really faded and worn after 33 years. I replaced and thought front corner amber uppers would blink
they do not. The amber part of each tailight only activates with turn signal or 4 ways, otherwise it stays off even with headlights on.
I think the deal is that the front side amber uppers are for running lights only. They dont blink at all. Kinda waste of talent as front signals are low and not that prominent, especially from those adjacent sideways in an intersection; hence the flip off, the horn, etc. as from the side, under-valence signals are invisible
The rear amber lens come on with turn signal as do the small slit amber style lamps down in the front chrome bumper.
Turn signals only light when blinking as do the 4r way flashers.
So I guess I was looking for something that didn't exist and trying to re-wire and mock up a better system is a waste of time and money
The laws don't require any additional upgrade.
On to the next event. Thanks for the contributions from those who know

It sounds like your lights are working properly!

Forum member @RAD4Runner did add some fender turn signals to his 4runner, and I believe he modified the front marker/running lights to double as turn signals too.

Break time at work is almost over, but if I can find the post he did, I will post up a link later.

Some PO modified my truck to have the flashers in the corner lenses instead of in the bumper, when I bought it they said it was a relatively common thing to do as it lets you swap out the front bumper for something without signals. If needed I could take pictures of what was done on mine, but I'm pretty sure they literally just moved the light sockets up into the corners. I should probably check on and fix that...

The front- corner markers can also be wired in similar manner to further improve visibility.
