because rattle-can can look bad.
Theres the lines inbetween layers of spray that are pretty noticeable...
Though, flat paint certainly does lay down pretty silky.

rattle can is the way to go IMO....for one..its VERY inexpensive..requires like basically zero prep..hahaha two, its pretty durable (rustoleum..only thing i ever use..besides krylon ONCE..and its still holdin up good) if you get a scratch on it..sand it down and spray it again..no problem at all..oh and did i mention its CHEEAPPPP!!!

I could swear you did the roll-on paint job.
Interesting, i might actually fix the paint on my truck. It's scratched up, and i want to fixs that rust hole. Plus i need a reason to do my senior project for highschool lol.
Plus, it's loaded up with scratches.. And i want to fix that fat rust hole.

What color did you end up using?
I'm thinking about the interlux ocean blue or sapphire blue for my '86 runner....I like your rig but want mine to come out a little darker.
did you spray yours or roll it?

Well... here are some ones I did with a roller....
Started out looking like this.....
1 gallon of rustoleum later... (sorry, not washed)
Then there was this one..... (my buddy HATES fords... he was laughing because I got this for $500...)
And when it was done...

Roller paint jobs look good but why roll when you can spray? Is it because it's cheaper? I'm not knocking rolling paint jobs I think they look great. It's just my dad is a professional painter and I grew up spraying paint with a bottom feed and gravity feed guns and think the the hardest part of a paint job is always going to be the prep. It just seems to me like more work to roll vs. spray. I really like how your truck turned out though, nice work.

I know what you mean about the ease of doing projects in your garage, I don't have one now and it's been my dilemma. My Dad always said I could rent a booth but I don't know what the going rate is for one. Lucky me his friend owns a shop and I can always talk him into doing my vehicles there. I would like to build a portable paint booth w/ drop tarps and filter fans but haven't priced it out. It's too cold to do any of that work right now anyway.

Wow, this turned out much better than I thought was possible with a roller. My opinion of this was tainted though because I once saw a VW beetle painted with a brush and it looked like he painted it with a broom.
It should actually be more durable than spraying with a gun. In the process of rolling (or brushing) you "work" the paint into the surface rather than just throwing it on it like a gun does.
