I was actually looking into doing marine paint on mine. It was an option just like Rustoleum and Tremclad. Of course, Tremclad isn't sold in the U.S., I'd like to find some though.
It's great that you are doing this and giving us all your feedback.
That second coat of paint makes it look awesome. The third coat will do it for you.
Good luck with the rest of it. Keep posting them pics.

Both are self leveling just like Interlux.
I don't know if your painting is exactly like using tremclad or Rustoleum, but it sounds very similar.
Here's the link I originally found for my inspiration.

Interlux probably covers in less coats, your truck is looking good.

thanks for the info. i want to use epifanes only because thats what you used and so i know exactly what to do but the interlux brightside has a better color i like so basically my question is are they the same or are they pretty different? one is monoureathane and the other is polyureathane.

thanks and sorry couple more questions. im actually gonna start doing mine next week. anyway. did you use any sort of primer or did you just rough up the brown and put on the green? whats exactly under the paint? and you keep saying thinner and reducer so how exactly do you prep the paint before rolling it on? thanks again. your truck is looking really good.

No primer other than where I fixed a rust spot and I sprayed primer where I put body filler.
I sanded the whole truck with a DA sander on the big stuff, but did most of it with 320 grit and a sanding block.
Before you roll anything you have to thin the paint around 10-15% with a quality urethane reducer, I suggest using what the paint manufacture recommends, you will be happier if you do.

wow am I way over budget on this project haha. I have probably spent $500 so far but I am almost done. Just picked up a Dewalt rotary buffer today. I am wet sanding today and painting tomorrow. battery is dead so I am wasting time on here while it charges so I can sand outside. Ill post more pics later.

your truck is coming out looking great, i may have to send ya a pm when i get ready to paint my boat. I'm going to paint my truck too when i get the time to do all the body work, i don't have rust but i have about a million shopping cart style dings to repair but i am going to spray that i have an nice hvlp gun and have painted several cars. if you decide it needs to be wet sanded shoot me an pm, its all about taking the steps in progression its not that hard and it wont dull the paint unless you try skipping steps it will actually make your paint job come out almost show quality.

well i jst got done doing my truck with this process. i sorta half-assed mine but i wasn't looking for show quality i more or less just wanted my truck to finally be only one color plus i managed to stay under $100 so its pretty damn good in that case. urs is looking way way way better than mine but whatever. i ended up using interlux brightside, doing two coats and im not wet sanding the final. i spent a little over a week working on it evryday. ill get some pics up soon
