Wheel Studs - Aftermarket part #s are WRONG
I went to NAPA.
I went to O'Reiley's.
I went to Advance Auto.
I went to Auto Zone.
I went to several local places that are even better stocked...
...and they all either gave me the completely WRONG wheel stud that had no space between the stud head and the knurled area for the rotor to fit or they tried to give me a wheel stud that is not the right size and does not fit in the wheel hub.
The one that was the right size was just not machined properly and at least 2 mm greater in diameter when mic'd.
Dorman I believe was the manufacturer...as well as some others as I had an OEM wheel stud with me and a wheel hub and none of the aftermarket ones I found fit at all.
Again, aftermarket places all have the wrong part number for the wheel studs on an 85 SFA wheel hub...not sure what they have for other years...but even searching the parts bins of each store...nada...nothing...zilch.
I had to order some at the dealer and they won't be here for a week! Gotta go rob some tomorrow from a 85 SFA a buddy of mine has.
Let the wheel stud buyer beware! Take the parts with you if possible if you need a replacement or additional parts. I wasted FOUR damn hours on this fiasco this morning.
Hallelujah...where's the Tylenol!?
