What is this brake part?

I see two brake lines from the front coming into this thing and one coming out to the rear. There is one hard line cut off sitting there from it. What does this thing do?

Why doesn't the lines from the front just connect to the rear and be done with it and why are there two lines to it? Shouldn't there only be one line from front to the rear?

I'll have to look in my book for more info about it and see if i need to fix a line that's capped and the other nozzle that's open possibly and make sure it's A-OK. Wonder if a bad one of these would help cause not so good brakes after I put new master cylinder on and bled them despite a small rear axle leak of seals that could be getting on the shoes and ruining it a little.

Most people convert their braking systems over and replace the LSPV with an adjustable porportioning valve. There are tech write ups on here and other sites to do it.

Thanks for the info. I will try to find a write up and see if it's something I can easily do on my own or not.

You probably figured this out by now, but one is a return line.
