what backspacing for 35's?
on my 85 lifted 6 inches, what backspaicing should I run with 15x8 rims and 35's? I have some rims with 3.5 backspacing, would they work ok without rubing??? any help would be great...

It's perfect and your only real choice anyway. More backspacing will cause the rim to hit the steering parts. If I remember right 3 5/8 was max. The more backspaced wheels from the 86 & newer will not even bolt on to an 85.

You should be fine w/ 3.5 backspacing as long as you don't get some ludicrously wide tire.

Not myth busted at all. I rough-guessed the Max backspacing at 3 5/8 - 3 3/4 is pretty close. But the 4 1/2" from 86 and newer trucks will not go on the 85 and older - at all. The steering arms at the tie rod joints hit the tim. Been there.

3.5" will be fine w/ a 12.5" wide tire. The problem you may have is the fronts rubbing the springs and the rears rubbing the frame, when flexed out. You can use some spacers or possibly get some 2.5"bs wheels for better clearance... The most I would dare go and the stock BS is 3.75"
I have no idea what kind of lift or spring packs or steering set up you have so it would be hard to say where they might rub or not...

The place mine rubbed was the rim rubbed on the steering components at the tie rod ends. The tires didn't come anyhwere near rubbing anything. The rim Backspacing was 3 5/8, and 1/4" spacers fixed it. Remember we're talking 84-85 only. Waskiwy pwobwy has no stock steewing parts left....
