Weber Issues
ive got an issue with my weber and hopefully someone can help. This past saturday i went to crank the truck. turned the key pressed the fuel pedal to the floor and turned the engine over, it would fire but then sound like it flood it self out. I could hold the fuel pedal 1/4 open and it would run but it was missing, had to much fuel. Once i get it warmed up it runs like a top. Ive checked for leaks, plugs and timing. Ive had the carb on the truck for approx 5 months, and it just started this all of a sudden. Any ideas?

dont mind wabbit, he doesnt get enough sleep!. im sure XXX will be here soon. in the mean time make sure you dont have any leaks, check to make sure the carb is tight and the linke is free and clear and lubed. it might be sticking while cold and when hot it frees up.

haha wabbit is the best. I ordered a one piece trans-dapt adapter for the carb, the two piece that came with it leaks a little but it has done that from day one and i havent had any issues, do you think that could of caused my problem all of a sudden?

Did the problem start right away when you switched the adapters? Was the carb tuned for lean best idle when it had the 2 piece cast adapter that was leaking? If so, you may now be running slightly rich, and when it's cold they run richer to warm up.

I havent switched adapters yet, i just have the weber at factory settings and it has ran good the whole time ive had it on until this past saturday. i will give the one piece a whirl and re-adjust the carb this week sometime. its running a lot rich right now. horrible fuel milage.

Well, that would be the opposite of the problem you'd have if the adapter pieces were leaking. Do you have a fuel pressure regulator installed? Return line from the fuel pump blocked off? If yes to the regulator and/or no to the return line blocked off, I think I'd suspect something breaking free that was plugging something up or something like that. There's a pretty low probability that something is now lodged in the accelerator pump circuit causing it to stay open, but I s'pose that's possible too.
Not that I suspect you of something here, but you did nothing to the carb right before the issue? No changing the idle, no changing the choke, no changing the fuel filter, etc? Is your timing still spot on where you left it? It could be some relatively unrelated thing that just affects the burning of the fuel and not the delivery.
