transmission wont go into reverse
ok so i went to jump i my truck and when i put it in reverse it wouldnt.. tried to put it in first went fine then down to reverse still nothing.. its like the reverse gear is not even there. it wont go down at all. i yarded on it pretty good but feared i might bend the shifter.. anyone else have something similar to this happen? im thinkin time for a rebuild.. not lookin forward to it but oh well.. any other ideas?

Usually the first and cheapest thing to try is... gear oil change. The shifter pushes and pulls several rods to align gears correctly. These rods slide in and out of a very tight bore with ball bearings. It might just need some better lube (don't we all, haha).
Reverse gear isn't synchronized so it can't be a synchronizer ring. Are all other gears working? If so... yeah I think that rod is just having trouble sliding in and out of that hole (again... the lube).
