Timing jumped?
88 YOTA P/U STANDARD 22RE 4X4. STARTED AND RAN JUST FINE UNTIL WE DID A VALVE ADJ. WE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP, FILTER, WE TESTED THE MAIN RELAY, AND THE CIRCUIT OPENING RELAY FOR OPERATION AND THEY CHECKED OUT. WE WENT BACK AND RE-ADJ. THE VALVES AND GOT THE SAME OUTCOME VEHICAL STARTS FOR A COUPLE SEC. AND THEN DIES. NOW THE TIMING MARKER ATTACHED TO THE BLOCK IS NOT THERE SO WE WENT OFF THE DISTRIBUTER TO FIND TDC OF THE #1 CYL. WHAT SHOULD I DO. IVE RAN OUT OF IDEAS.

Check for severe vacuum leaks and make sure the intake tube is attached securely and did not crack. It sounds like you might not be getting enough airflow through the AFM. If it starts and dies, you are most likely running off the cold start injector during startup and not getting a proper signal to the regular injectors (no signal from AFM). It could also be caused by a large vacuum leak leaning out the mixture after the engine starts, which would be easily caused by forgetting to attach a vacuum hose after doing the valve adjustment.
