Shackle Question

I am looking at ordering some shackles in the next couple days and was wondering if hey help to move the axle forward?

I am rubbing hardcore and I think the only way to not rub is to relocate the axle.

Are there any other ways to relocate the axle than to buy new springs. I just got these ones.

i got some a couple weeks ago to move the front axle forward on my 79. they worked great, and i had them both installed in about 30 minutes.
i bought the standard 2 inch width, 5.25 inches long. they also give you 1\4 inch of lift to!

u can move it either 3\4 or 1 inch. i moved mine 1 inch forward, made all the difference for me, after the high steer conversion i wasnt happy with the amount of clearance between the tie rod and oil pan, im doing a fairly small lift. so i moved the axle forward so now the tie rod is under the part of the oil pan where it slopes up and there is plenty of room.

I was wondering about these... may need to go that route.

Sell the front springs and do the ruf mod and buy a hysteer kit.

You can also redrill the spring perches and move them back an inch, moving your axle forward an inch.

rear leaf springs up front will move the axle 1-2" forward...just an option to keep in mind

Did that many years ago on my '85. No problems if you can drill 5/8" holes in steel on the truck. Hint: Check both perches before drilling, mine had holes already in one perch at 3/4" and 1.5" back, so just had to drill the other perch to match. Then drill a matching hole in the spring plate or bumpstop plate and put it back together. May need to adjust steering or if you have an adjustable drag link and torque rod, shorten them up.

Longer shackle up front can help with wheel well rubbing, as they kick the axle down and away from the wheel well. And since they won't kick back as far as a shorter shackle the axle will not move back quite as far under full compression:

if you want to move your axle forware say an inch or 1/2 would u be able to adjust those thing on the push pull steering. Just thinking about this in my head. Wouldnt the push pull not allow you to move the axle froward?

An adjustable drag link might help with the push/ pull issue as Roger indicates, but cross over steering increases the 'neato' factor 10x

Hard to do properly, but it can be done. Re-center the steering wheel, you might lose some turning radius one way or the other. But with some lift springs, the added length of those parts (from the lift) is offset by the lessended length from moving forward.
