Replaced clutch MC and had to cut?
Got a quick question... I noticed my clutch master cylinder was leaking in the floor today after filling the reservoir for the second time this week. I happened to be next to Advance, so I ran in to see how much the master cylinder would be to replace. $20 later I was on my way home and ready to replace it.
I had the old one off in less than 5 minutes and decided to adjust the rod against the old one to reduce my adjusting time one I had the new one on. I adjusted the new one to match the exact length of the old one and tightened the adjusting nut down. Not looking inside under the dash, I put the new one on the firewall and hooked up the hydro line. When I crawled (contorted) back under the dash to connect the rod back to the pedal arm, my threads were too long and hitting the pedal arm and prevented the pin from sliding back in the hole of the pedal arm.
I had to saw off almost 3/4 of an inch of threads after I removed the new one to cut off some threads. Has anyone else run into this along the way? Once I cut some threads off, I put it back in and everything fit great. The thread no longer rubbed the clutch pedal arm. System is bled and working fine so far. I drove it for about 15 minutes after the replacement was through... Were the threads too long because it was from Advance or did I possibly hose something up or will I most likely be good to go as long as it works?
Thanks!

i was working on an 82 model that had the opposite problem, the clutch rod was to short and didn't work right, the po had just replaced it. we put a used one on no more problems. they probably got the wrong model parts in the box or they are doing the one size fits all theory. since you have cut on it they most likely won't take it back if they notice, so if it is working just run it.
