Power steering pump Info

I just pulled a complete power steering setup off an 86 22re to put in my 85 22r that came with manual steering. so i have two questions?

1) Do i need those two vent lines that come off the top of the steering pump?

and

2) is it a big deal to run the system without the cooler?

Thanks

1 Those lines run up by the E F I to boost idle at low rpms for the pump.

2 A factory PS cooler?

1) since i have the 22r with a carb where should i route those lines? or do i need them at all.

2) The only thing i didn't take from the donor is the power steering cooler. I really don't have a lot of room to work with so if i dont need the cooler i'd rather not have to use one.

The stock cooler is just a small piece of tube that runs near the grill. I don't think it does much.

You would need an idle up actuator from a carbed power steering equipped vehicle, or just leave those lines unused.

Thanks.... I'll leave those lines unused then. This thing is not my DD so i'll just increase the idle if the need arises.
