I'm gonna be a pic hound and copy from another thread...
I was doing that today!!! Testing out the new tires!!!
I finally got the whees\tires mounted and on the truck. Bought the wheels on CL and they are 15x8 with 4.?" backspacing. The guy I bought them from said they were 3.75" backspacing but when I got them home, I measured and they were more than that and didn't fit (hit the balljoints). I put some 1.25" spacers on the front of the rig (already had the spacers sitting around) and the front wheels now clear, the back fit without mods. Oh, $80 for the 4 rims. So, good to go on the wheels.
The tires are new Interco Truxus MT's, $154 ea., then $12 ea for mounting\bal\new stems.
I really, really tried to buy them locally but not only would local shops not "deal" with me, a couple treated me like crap or like a dunce. Bad move on their part. Once a vendor treats me well, I'll stick with them and tolerate some inconsistencies, but I can be REALLY loyal. But if the first experience is bad, I generally don't give second chances.
But I definately wanted these specific tires. They are the same as I have on my ZR2 and I think they are a great snow\dirt\mud tire. They are Interco's (US MADE) and generally cheaper than comparable sized tires (and performance is far better).
The 31's and 4.56 gears seem just about right. I tested the rear locker ALOT and no doubt it's working just like in my offroad rig. I'll now be seriously looking for a selectable front locker and I'll be set.
Well, except for the install of a few more doo-dads'... I'll report back next year.
