No, the cig lighter only has power when the key is on. The 4runner I had wanted to die, I bought it at a junk yard with 218,000, it had a cracked head. Replaced the engine with a non turbo, then the fuel pump went out, replaced that then the metal fuel line broke. Fixed that then the crank seal started leaking, fixed that, adjust the brakes...the added pressure blew the line by the fuel tank. After all that then it would not start. That was my fuel problem. Jumpered that. Then last but not least I was having a battery drain issue. I am sure it was related to the fuel problem. I took out fuses disconnected wires etc, never did locate it. I am currently using it as a donor truck to my off roader. The truck was just tried and there was no saving her! Too bad though. 86 SR5 Turbo 4Runner

To test AFM switch, with the key on push the AFM flap (with air cleaner open) and the fuel pump should come on.
Rodents might have chewed the FP wires too.

More rain and no garage space. Lets keep this going but I'll have to wait for better weather.

Can 4Crawler or someone tell me which 2 of the 5 pins to jump on the socket for the CO relay? How about a wiring diagram with wire color codes.

4Crawler, thanks. Now I see that you showed this to me earlier. Got it.
Today I got power to the pump but none coming out to ground. I hope this isn't an intermitten problem with power to the pump.

Still, the pump won't turn on or pump fuel so the next thing I'll do is get a new pump. Not going to Toyota for it because I know they're pretty expensive and I've used Kragen pumps in the past without any problems.

Hallelujah, $158 at Kragen and I,m getting to go to the desert before the year is over!

It was the fuel pump after all. I think that I may have not had a good ground when I checked the pump for power. At least I learned a lot of ways to check that circuit out for future reference.

Thanks to everyone who gave me their time and input. You guys are indispensible and I really like all the pictures, diagrams and schematics.

Oh, hey Scuba. Probably somewhere in the Anza Borrego area. I'll just be glad to get back out there. I haven't gone out for a couple of years due to some personal issues (hence the storage of my truck for a couple of years).

I am thinking maybe Sheep Canyon and Clark Dry Lake area. A buddy of mine wants to get out to the mud caves and explore some upper cave that you had to climb up a rope to get to.
