New motor options

i have a 1985 toyota pickup my dad gave me, and that he took Very well care of he bought it new in 85 with just about every factory option available, any way the truck aside from having 220k miles on the 22RE, is in excellent condition, no rust, all the interior is in very nice condition, no tears or cracks or any thing else on any of it, so i was thinking its probably not a bad idea, just to replace/rebuild the engine after it dies, i was thinking that i wanted to turn it into a mild 4x4 truck, considering its a 85 toyota, and from what ive heard 85 toyota xcabs are one of the better years of the toyota trucks especially for off roading because of the strait axle. from driving the truck around and feeling out the power of the tired 22re i was thinking what ever i put back into it, i want it to have some more power, especially considering i wanted to put some larger tires on it, 32's or so and be able to climb hills in some thing other then second gear, ive considered putting a ford 302 into it, but ive never accually seen some one who has done it, and i have no idea what kind of modifications a 302 would require to fix in the engine bay. ive also thought about just rebuilding the 22RE with some better parts, maybe stroke it and bore it out put some better pistons in it, i was just looking for advice on the way to go for fixing a dead 22re any advice would be great, thanks guys
