new guy, old truck !
hey guys..
finally decided to join the toyota family.
sold my daily and got this truck.
85 efi , 22re rebuilt, with new 33"x12.5"x15" MT,
4.70 GR front and rear, clean truck blablabla...
with a 7" lift, as i was told ....
yep, "what that...7" lift ??"
it has two rear blocks for lift , 1" & 2" each block on stock leafs with an " added helper leaf " , sitting on 9000 ranchos and a ton of wheel hop.
right now i checked the rear suspention for broken leafs or busted bushings but no...
and decided to build a traction bar.
( hopefully i can get a decent ride with it )
unless i could get another option or remove those blocks and get a good set of leafs springs and stop the wheel hop & flexing..
i really love the search option, but just in case you were in the same situation.. i really appreciate your input.
thanks a lot
now im ready to my new toy.

Stacked blocks are a big DON'T. Take at least one out ASAP. Never stack blocks. Never ever!
Get a nice set of 2-3 inch leaves in back and use one block or some longer shackles.
Or if it was me and since Downey is out of business, I really want to try the 63" Chevy's back there.
You are doing the right thing though. Getting as much info as you can before you make our decision.

Thanks guys...
probably i can get my hands on a used set of All Pro 4" leafs and get rid of the blocks...
wich i beleive they will fit just back in the same location of the OEM leafs using the same shackles.
Got her about two weeks, sold my daily and i was browsing for a tacoma, but somehow
i typed " toyota pick up" on the search and this 22re came up...
rebuilt engine with less than 2k miles, new water, oil pump, master cilinder, SS brake lines , xtra bab, solid axle, new mt tires on white rims, 4.7 gears back and front diff, , new clutch and syncros , clean interior and tittle...
dont know if i over paid, but i have a friend who's into yotas and said it was right average. paid 4200.
I needed a turn key daily, but as always i will start looking to work in it.
right now im planning to replace the blocks with leafs, replace bushings , probably 1" body lift,
and work on a traction bar... need to weld something on her..!

Nice looking truck...well as they all said it I'm not going to repeat it...With the block removal longer shackles would help out also. If it were me I don't think I'd go higher with it starting to get a lil top heavy??? Seems like you got a good price for her as well. Nice find!!!
More pic would be great!!! and 2x on the runner in the background.

4.7 gears would only apply to your transfer case, not diffs. If it still has 4.10 gears in the diffs then I would recommend replacing them with 5.29s, Either way, it sounds like it will be a great start once you figure out suspension. Also, if you really want to weld something you should consider some protection, ie rock sliders, cause that body is nice! Hy-steer is pretty awesome, too.

10-4 on the diff and all pro...
well if i can get the all pro for 150$ ( thats the guys's price for it ), i think relocating the hangers for the springs shouln't be that hard. or just bring it to a shop an get it done...probably same day i guess. i just want to get rid of the blocks once and for all.

well, made up my mind...
im going to take those blocks off and get a real 4" lift for the back , spoke with the guy who sold me the truck and he said " 3inch lift in blocks and 1" with a helper spring ", so im going 4" lift with a real set.
i know theres several companies and many differ
but i narrow it to :
all pro 4" kit
trail gear kit
marlin crawler kit
pro comp ( looks like these are the only one who will fit into OEM location ... )
im going replace the leaf hanger locations, but should i relocate the spring perches too?
is that necessary or optional?
if you have another companies that you would trust, please let me know.

Don't rule out custom leafs. For instance down here in southern california you can get custom 4" springs from national spring co.. Very progressive soft springs. They are a little pricey though, $700 for the fronts and $700 for the rears, but they're worth it! I have a friend who lives in Santee with those springs and he loves them. I'm going to be saving for them myself. Also they will mount where the OE springs are located now.

i went to a close by shop to see if they have some springs in stock..
and we figured it out i have a set of front springs made by super lift.
Part # 7007 ( printed on the springs )
the guy who attended me doesn't sound to sure about what to get for the rears.
now question : should i look for a 7" in the back too?
the truck looks even now , front and back BUT
in the back i have 3" blocks with some helper bar on stock springs that looks even.
what lift should i look for? 5" ? 6" or even the skyjacker (*bolt on? )7" lift
dont mind if the front gets a little higher compared to the rears...
but like TG max height is 5", off-road , MC 6" max.
thanks for the tip on National springs..but its little off for me right now..probably i would stuck in the 350-400$ league for now..thanks thou

hey guy! need some help
what size of springs should i get for the back? i have a 7" front lift...
super lift # 7007
and found some 6" and 7" rear lift from skyjacker, the sales man said " bolt on"
wich one to get ? to get the truck even with the front or just a little lower in the back.
im reading and asking but cant get a straight answer... please , help me to get rid of this!!!
i heard something like i have to go 1"-2" higher in the front compared to the rear , just to even it out.
so that means i have to look for a 5" lift in the back just to get even with the 7" fronts ??
