Need help after installing new clutch

Hello I recently installed a new clutch on my 1984 Toyota pick up 4x4 everything went smoothly but then when I drive it on the freeway all the gears go in perfect except when I put it in the last gear (5th) it makes a weird humming noise. But it goes into gear fine. While on 5th gear when I press the clutch the noise goes away. I tried to mess with the clutch pedal adjustment but still no luck yet should I keep messing with the adjustment until I get it right? any suggestions? I have a video of the noise I’ll try to post it soon. Thank you for all the help.

Definitely, adjust the pedal to the FSM specs. That's pretty important. Don't just guess at what might be right. Do it according to "The Book".

My 5th gear hums a little too. Always has, since the day I bought it. Both trucks, especially when cold. May I ask what oil you're using? Again, it matters.
When I lived in Yuma, Az., I used straight 95 weight, Castrol, GL-5. I think the GL-4 is a little different. It seems that the GL-5 makes mine shift a little easier, and run smoother. I may well be wrong on that, though. But Yuma is HOT. All the time. Miserable place.
Anywho, when I moved to southern Oregon, I went to the 75W-90 oil. Works better, especially when it's cold out. I grew up in the Bay Area, Redwood City/Woodside area, so I know the weather you get. I would definitely say use the 75W-90, GL-5. If it were me, of course.

Anywho, I wish you great good fortune.
BTW: It helps a lot if you put your trucks info in your sig. Engine, transmission type, year, miles, etc. It will help us help YOU. Look at some of the others sigs in the forums. Good examples of what info to include.

Have fun!

You should have a copy of the FSM. The Factory Service Manual. They're available on line in PDF format for your truck. I believe there is a copy of the PDF in this forum, someplace. Free. Just save a copy onto your hard drive. Then you can print the page(s) you need for the job you're doing, take them with you to do the work, and then throw them away when you get done. Just keep the PDF where you know where it is. DO NOT let your wife clean up your hard drive for you. You'll never see the manual again

Here is the adjustment procedure out of the FSM. Hope it helps some...

Does this help at all?
Remember, do it as specified. Don't take a WAG at it. If you need more help, let us know
