Just finished changing timing chain in previously sealed motor- wont run!!!
#2
Ok; you got the mechanical timing off.
First check spark, make sure you have a spark at the plugs, no spark, no fire. Check fuel, make sure its wet with gas and it should at least stumble & spit if you have spark.
Could be the distributor, or it could be the cam. You need to mechanically check both by setting the crank to TDC #1 and checking both valves are closed & the dist. is pointing twards #1 on the cap. If it is; run a compression test and it should be above 100. If not, fix it, since its not going anywhere like that. Then walk the engine over and verify the exhaust valve opens at 200 degrees rotation from TDC. If its the intake that opens, your camshaft is 180 degrees out. Fix it, its not moving.
Check the build threads for more information. lots of info for fixing just this issue.
