Most people on here like Bilsteins. They are particularly good for rock-crawlers (as I understand it).
I have used Ranchos and thought they were great on the road and too soft for off road, allowing me to hit the bumpstops too often.
I prefer Old Man Emu shocks by ARB which would run you about $280 shipped. I like how firm they are offroad and the onroad performance is not bad either. I love them on my 4runner and will be getting them for my pickup as cash is available. That said, however, most of my driving is offroad on firebreaks and through mud and over gravel.
Personally I wouldn't run superlift or rough country or downey, etc. due to all the bad reviews I have seen for them. If you spend some time on this forum just reading the mountain of stuff people have written about their own rigs you'll develop a good feel for what is right for you. That's also why I like my 3" body lift and why I understand why a lot of people here hate body lifts. Rock crawling with a 3" body lift and 4" suspension lift results in a high center of gravity which could be the straw that rolls yer camel over

I don't think it was necessarily the "body lift" part but rather the 4" part that was so shocking...and you might care later on when you're toppled over...many at YT are just concerned for others safety and that much body lift is excessive in most cases...sorry to post off topic.

Im running 3" body. I dont wheel much, and i especially dont rock crawl, so it doesnt effect me much. Primairly cosmetic.

i hear ya on the trying to help which is appreciated but like others have stated, not everyone here is rock crawling and extreme off roading to must need the lower center of gravity. plus then there is the esthetic thing too... to each their own. i personally strongly dissagree on 33" tires on a 22r(e) for various reasons but everyone else here loves em...so be it. to each their own.
i was just asking if these shocks are any good. the price is right. ya, i gathered from reading that bilsteins are good. i have them on my bmw and know they're good. but $100 vs. $300 is a big diff. i just want to know if i'll get what i pay for, ie: cheap shock = cheap ride quality, etc.

I'm in the market for Bilsteins and so far i'm liking what i've been hearing about them...in your case i say you go for the cheap ones as you do not do much off-roading and it will probably not make much of a difference.
You could always put them on and if you don't like them just return them...yes its a lot of work for nothing but hey, you might like them and it will save you a good 200 dollars.

I have a body lift too dude. Same situation, it came with the truck BUT 4 inches is way to extreme. I hope you mean 3 inch not 4 because even 3 is too much. Mines is coming off being cut to an inch just to help clear. i agree on the doetsch tech shocks. There nice for the price and beat buying other entry level shocks on the market(sky jacker, rancho, pro comp etc).
