I got lucky, I found an 85 4Runner and bought it, it had no motor and the interior was trashed, but it did have was stock axles with 5.29 gears and almost new 37'' MTR`s, i had my cousin swap the axles and tires from the 4Runner onto my truck and put my stock axles back under the 4Runner and then sold it as is. I paid 1000 dollars for the 4Runner and sold it for 700 dollars so the gears and tires only cost me 300 dollars. I think i came out good on that deal.

I used wheel bearing grease:

A 1-2 lb. tub is usually sufficient.

i found pints of mobil1 at kragen for a couple dollars more than generic. following a friends advise, i used one pint for each side. that was enough to pack each bearing, the birfield joint and the knuckle to the hilt.

One place:

Or a 2-1/8" thin wall socket also typically works.
