ford two barrel carburetor on 22r
I found an old post in here where someone said the got an adapter plate and mounted a ford 351m two barrel carb on a 22r engine. They did not give any details on how it worked. Seems like a cheap alternative to weber. I really don't want to spend $400 on a carb form my 84 Toyota pickup. Does anyone have any experience with this setup? Thanks.

I have no experience with it but have heard of it being done. According to the Carb Doctor, you have several to choose from that were stock on different makes:
"Holley 5200 and 6500 series carburetors were Holley-produced versions of Weber staged two barrel designs. Ford and Mercury used the 5200C and 6500C; AMC and General Motors applications used the 5210C and 6510C; Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth used the 5220C and 6520C. The 6500 series were feedback (computer controlled) carburetors." Source: https://carbkitsource.com/tech/Holley/5200-index.html
You would need an early example (pre 1983) without the feedback valve (NOT the 6500 series). Earlier Model 2150 will also work and is almost an exact copy of the Weber 32/36 DGV. You can also get these completely rebuilt & ready to bolt on from National Carburetor for $179 + shipping or for $20 more you can get a brand new one. Either one comes with a warranty and the rebuilts have been entirely gone through, new throttle shaft bushings & all, and are also flow tested before being sold. I do not work for National Carburetor but they have treated me right in the past.

I DO NOT recommend buying any carb that even looks like this new off of Ebay. Most of those are Chinese knockoffs of very questionable quality and have the same problems as the copies of the Weber 32/36's. They never run right.
You would need an adapter kit like this one: https://www.hedman.com/product-detail/2120
Yes I know it says "20R" but the flanges for 20R & 22R are the same bolt pattern.
No idea about the throttle setup. Pretty sure the '80 has a cable setup so that might not be too hard to get done.
Looking at pricing I'd say you might could get this done and save about $150 over the Weber 32/36 DGEV.
