Oh, I came close, but then my eyes started watering because of the sweat running into them, so I had an excuse.

I've used 4lo with hubs unlocked several times, usually when I want to exercise my mall-crawling (er.. hump some curbs because of stupid dead-end parking lots).

I use 4 Lo with the hubs unlocked every day. Have a freakin steep driveway and don't need to be wasting the clutch on it.

Well, it's this: "reason why he wants to be in 2wd low is because he wanted to show the jeeps he can do it in 2 low instead of 4 low" that makes me think teenager.

Nothing necessarily wrong with it, just seem like the sort of thing you grow out of at some point. Doesn't have anything to do with driving on the street in 4wd with hubs locked in, though.

i new a guy from slc that swore his old yota pickup drag raced (lmao already) faster in 4 high cause of traction. though a very valed thought, i think you need more than 120 ponies under the hood to utilize the theory.

and wait, i thought you said your "friend" was in 4 high. cause when i trail around with the crew i roll 2 low with the twin stick to see if i can. the only reason im in low is cause of the lack of 22re power in the runner. but i almost always try 2 on the trail. then 4 when i just want to get through or give up.

With a rear locker I get all over the desert without locking the hubs. On occasion I need a little more traction and control so into Lo it goes. Only when I see something challenging do I send out the "hub boy or girl" to lock 'em in.

Also helps when desending steep hills.

Well just to chime in on this topic... here is my 02 cents....my 95 4runner 3vze auto original owners manual in the glove box...states that the 4runner be driven in the 4x4 mode for 10 miles each month to keep all moving parts lubed

I called 3 local Toyota stealerships in GA and asked the service manager about doing this on pavement, because of all the things I have heard would happen to the drive train if on pavement. The svc manager said that it will not hurt anything as long as your not turning sharp circles or switchbacks.....I under stand what he is saying and do understand thet the drive train needs lubed

I do the 4H on my way home from work for a section of paved road that is straight for about 11 miles with no turns and never had any problems, however if I try to turn on to a street in 4H then that is not good because you can tear something up because things are moving at different speeds between front and rear
