downeys leaf packs & shock ???s

So after looking around for OME springs I found out about these downey 3 in lift springs. I was at ORW and they sell a lot of downey leaf packs. Price shipped with tax is about 430 i think he said, Should i go through them or should I call and order them direct from downey? Im being charged for shipping either way i order them. Has anyone ordered from them directly? If anyone has any feedback on thee springs on how they perform and articulate etc then plese let me know.

Now the shocks questions. I Want to run taller shock hoops up front with bilstein 5150 probably or like a fox shock. Anyone know what length i would need and also how do i get the right shock valving for my truck??

thanks!!!

last question is I assumer i need shims for both front and rear axle. What degree shim do i need for a 3 inch lift??

thanks!!!
I have ordered directly from Downey in the past and had nothing but good things to say about the experience. They are helpful, friendly and knowledgable about what applications are best for what truck. Not to mention, if you have a potential issue, it's always best to go directly to the manufacturer than a reseller IMHO.

I recommend however shopping around and getting some pieces here and some pieces there. It may take a bit more work and a little longer, hoever you can save yourself some coin if you do it this way.

Is the $430 for 2 or 4 springs? Personally, I ran a set of downey rear leafs in a 1994 4x4 DX and loved them. They flexed really nice!!

Either way, let us know how things go!

Are you going to keep the stock steering or go crossover?

As for shocks, personally, I was on a budget hen I bought my stuff. I went with Doesch Tech Shocks and ened up paying like $200 for all 4 12" long shocks. They work great and I have run them without a problem since I put on my lift!

430 is for all 4 springs with tax and shipping to ORW which I dont understand before he said it was like 160 a pair which is 320 and then shipping is 35 and then about 25 for tax so i dunno where these hidden fees are coming from. Im keeping stock steering till I buy a welder this summer(miller 210 ). Are you using stock shock hoops for the front to fit 12 inch travel shocks or somthing like those medium hoops from trail gear? When you guys do u bolt flips, where do you put the bump stops?

I am using the 12" (or were they 10") shock hoops from Trail Gear. The bump stops are not yet on as I want to see what I need to set them to first.

I highly suggest the Doesch Tech shocks for the money!

I got the springs in and they seem pretty nice. I havent really tried them out, I got some pretty good flex with them though. I dunno about actualy giving me a full 3 inches in the front but so far they seem to be working good. Ill update once i get shocks and drive it around. If they sit any lower after there "broken in" Im calling downey.

they will most likely sit a hair lower once broken in.
just get a shackle lift to compensate.
let us know how they ride on the street.

Alright, I finished up my lift and i ended up with doetsch tech 8000 "prerunner" shocks which have heavier valving. The ride is a lot better then it used to be even with the stiff shocks. Ive been running this setup for months now without any problems. I also got rid of the body lift. Doing new energy body mount bushings help ride quality A LOT!! attached is a pic of my truck doing a little flexing. I could go a little more then in the picture. Its sits so high because the body lift was still on. Also attached is another little project I did over the summer.
