Alright so i gathered i have a bad cylinder head since i do not think it is normal to have water flow out of the back of the head as fast as you are putting water from a water hose into the radiator

so what cylinder head does my truck have, cuz i found one on ebay but it says this " This head fits the early 80's 22r which had the dome top pistons and the double roll timing chain.".

if you guys know anyone that is selling off a good head for cheap lemme know, this truck aint worth dumping alot of money into i just would like to get it running to commute with and make a lil profit with.

thanks for your time,
Ryan

oh yea duh, i have a 1984 Toyota Pickup (manu. date 9/83)

if its an 84 then you have a early motor but first check and see where the water is coming from. there is a plate on the back of the head that coolent flows to that may of came lose or the gasket went bad

Is the water coming out of the head for sure or is it coming out of the back of the block?

If its coming out of the head then ya your head is done, one of the water jackets probably broke all the way through. If that is the case dont run the vehicle until you make sure there is no water in the cylinder/s.

If its coming out of the back of the block then its most likely a freeze plug.

Yes there is a pipe that runs back there. I have a head that will work for you. I have it on ebay right now and will sell it to you for $50 Plus shipping. It was rebuilt about 40k miles ago. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3028300&rd=1,1
That price is for the people of this board.

pull the head and have it tested if you dont see any visual signs of cracking. i like the suggestion about the plate on the back of the head, that gasket can go bad. id pull the head before i did anything else. it would be a good time to do the timing chain and head gasket anyways. might also be a good time to think about an upgraded cam if youve ever plan on that. contact engnbldr.com.

OK, first run is 1981-1983, double row chain. Then ther eis the 84, a real morphodite. One of a kind, single chain, then there is the 1985 to 1995 which is the best one to have.
