THREAD I POSTED ON PIRATE http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=460751
Fist step is to find some donor springs. For mine I chose to use some stock Toyota rears...
Next cut them an inch or so behind the center pin hole & remove the center pin. An angle grinder with a cut off disc works well. I find that some painters tape for a guidline makes for an easy straight cut...
Clean them up & prep. them...
Then paint them...
Next up is to place a jack under the differential & remove the top pins from the shackles. To remove the pins, loosen the nuts & turn them out until they are flush with the end of the bolt then beat it out. I used a rubber mallet & gave it a couple good smacks. After that its time to remove the rear spring hanger & the bumpstop...
After removing them clean the area up, prep them, & then of coarse paint it...
A C-clamp works well for setting the buggy leafs, when I did mine I tried to get the U-bolts close to directly above the ones on the axle. (stock Toy U-bolts work well for the buggy leafs) A warning though without a 2" body lift tightening the U-bolts will be a real PITA & you will either have to cut them down about an inch or space them...
Make sure you raise & lower the axle once you have the one buggy leaf mocked up so that you can make sure you have a descent shackle angle when the leafs are laying flat on the frame. (45 degrees is what is recommended)
Much better...
Side note: Don't for get to grease the bushings when you re-insert bolts. A nice little upgrade is the greaseable bolts from Trail-Gear. Also You will need to extend your breakline due to all the travel.
So far I'm happy with the results but I think I am going to remove one of the two leafs from the buggy pack so that they have a little more flex.
